Prop. 8 RALLY
Yesterday we stood on a busy corner in the middle of West Hollywood to protest the recent decision by the US 9th Circuit Court to delay justice to same-sex couples in the state of California. A recent decision by the Ca. Supreme Court ruled that such a ban was unconstitutional and wrong.
Prop. 8 was devastating for same-sex couples and their families, putting children at risk, devaluing relationships and setting LGBT people apart for special discrimination. Anti-gay extremists targeted a minority group, stripped away a precious freedom and relegated lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender Americans to second-class status with a divisive agenda built on fear mongering and a blatant disregard for the truth.
Perry v. Schwarzenegger is a federal court case challenging the validity of Prop. 8. Unlike the California State Supreme Court challenge, the petitioners are challenging the merits of Prop. 8 under federal law.
On Aug. 4th, 2010 U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that Prop. 8 violates the U.S. Constitution’s Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses. Later, he denied the motion to stay his decision, paving the way for same-sex couples to marry starting on Wednesday, August 18 at 5 p.m. The case was then appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
This federal appeals court recently granted an indefinite stay in the Proposition 8 case, blocking same-sex weddings in California while an appeal is considered.
We protested yesterday to raise awareness and support for the delay of justice to many, law-abiding, tax-paying Americans. We cannot stand by and watch our friends, family members, and neighbors be degraded, in the law, based on religious prejudice and bigotry. Stand up. Fight back!

Whoa, did you go gay?
I think its really amazing what you are doing, i think this world is in desperate need of brave people who are willing to fight for their brothers and sisters and actually do something about it! …. Everyone .. no matter gay, straight, bisexual, tri, or whatever should have the same rights! and us … no matter if we are gay or straight or whatever should fight together and stand by our believes ….. and idk why i found so stupid when these people use the “religious prejudice” to “defend”their position… i believe god love us all … no matter what … people should really let others live their lifes how they are happy .. and stop with the hate and all that!
Kudos for you
